An eight-year-old in Ujjain was repeatedly gang-raped by four schoolmates in a toilet on campus, police said on Sunday. None of the suspects has been detained yet.
The survivor has told police that at least two of her classmates have been gang-raped by the same boys but they haven’t come forward to complain.
According to the FIR, the minor says the gang of senior boys waylaid her for the first time on January 21 when she was walking towards the main gate. They took her into the washroom and raped her. They gangrape her three more times, the last time on March 9, she said.
She kept quiet out of fear but told her mother two days ago. Horrified, she went to the school but the principal allegedly dismissed her complaint, claiming “such a crime could never have happened in their school”. The woman then approached the police.
A team of forensic and cyber investigating and crime branch officers was sent to the school to collect evidence on Saturday after which a case was registered on Sunday.
Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi said the four boys have been charged under section 376 DB of IPC and POCSO Act.
